Lib Dems see great merit in the Kennel Clubs Accredited Breeder Scheme.
The scheme was introduced in 2004 to promote responsible breeding so that puppy buyers would know that their potential purchase had been bred and brought up at an acceptable standard.
Within half a decade more than 4000 breeders have become accredited saying that they will follow a set of requirements that will lead to healthy welladjusted puppies. Click here for the full story |

Lib Dems are pleased that in the end the Tories have rejected the Boy Racer Approach to traffic speeding.
Cllr Clive Baskerville said While speed cameras are not the beall and endall would our roads be safer if they all were taken out tomorrow? I suspect we would have very soon found lots of speed indicator devises placed around the borough to satisfy local residents who consistently ask for speed monitoring. The Liberal Democrats are leading a discussion in Council that may ensure ongoing recognition of residents of the Borough who have given their lives in the service of their country since the Second World War.
Britain has been engaged in military operations around the world since 1945. However the level of public acknowledgement does not adequately reflect this for in the Borough the overwhelming majority of memorials are to conflicts stretching back from the Second World War. For many years local councillors have been fighting to protect post offices from closure in the Borough.
Rounds of cost cutting have been seen with branches such as the one on Cookham Road in Maidenhead closing down.
In Lib Dem controlled Bristol Councillors have noticed a way of keeping more of these locations viable. Currently the rural rate relief scheme allows help in rural areas where the population is under 3000. Click here for the full story |

Will the next decade see rail investment leading to better public transport for borough residents or not?
The Lib Dems are aware of three schemes that have the opportunity to improve the lives of Borough residents:
Crossrail a west to east rail link is designed to provide a direct service from Maidenhead into the City of London and then on to Essex and Kent
Airtrack could be developed to provide a direct link into Heathrow Terminal 5 from Ascot and Windsor. Click here for the full story | |
Cllr Kathy Newbound the only borough LibDem councillor on Berkshire Fire Authority voted no to an immediate rise in basic councillor allowances from £412 to £1800 a year
Cllr Mrs Newbound said "The ruling Tory group on the fire authority are trying to end night time cover at Windsor Fire Stationciting cost. Yet they are happy to raise money paid to themselves. Click here for the full story |
